Open gyms are open to anyone NOT PLAYING a Fall sport. We will focus on conditioning, and the fundamentals of running offense and playing defense. There will also be some time to play full court. It is against MSHSAA rules for anyone playing a Fall sport to attend. We are limited in how many we can have due to MSHSAA rules, and gym availability with Fall sports and activities.
Open gym dates and times:
9/15 – 3:45-5:15
9/23 – 3:45-5:15-Cancelled
9/28 – 4:00-5:30
9/29 – 4:00-5:30
Coach Rosewell is also keeping the weight room open Monday through Thursday for weight lifting until 3:45 each day. He has workouts specific to basketball, so if you are not playing a Fall sport and not taking Strength and Condition in PE, we strongly encourage you to attend. On Wednesdays, there will be a study hall room students can go to if they need to wait on the 5:30 activity bus. Any other day, students will need to be picked up by 3:45. *
New for the 2021-22 Jr Pats season, D1 Training and the Junior Patriots Basketball board members have reached an agreement on eight sessions. Trainers from D1 will be coming to Parkway South during practices to lead our student athletes in basketball specific training drills! The board members are hoping the players will build core strength, improve jumping ability, build quickness and become better athletes.
The agreement will also include an opportunity for boys basketball, girls basketball, wrestling and football players in the Parkway South feeder programs to attend a summer camp at D1 Manchester specifically for those athletes!

On January 14th, the Patriots will take on former player and current head coach of the Windsor Owls, Ryan McArthy in a game played at the Hoosier Gym in Knightstown, Indiana. The Hoosier Gym is the site where the movie Hoosiers was filmed in 1986. The trip was originally scheduled for last season but the Hoosier Gym was shut down all winter because of Covid-19. That game was moved to Windsor High School with the Owls winning 52-48. Three South players scored in double figures…Tristan Brand-16, Evan Renz 15 and Eddie Ahearn-10.
Adam Sommer has signed to play basketball next year at Garden City Community College in Garden City, Kansas. Sommer is a 2020 graduate of Parkway South and last year attended Bosco Institute in Chicago. Adam left South with four school records which included the most points in a game with 42.
