Preview: Parkway South Patriots vs. North Point Grizzlies

After eight games on the road, Parkway South is heading back home. They will take on the North Point Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Parkway South focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Wednesday.

Last Wednesday, Parkway South slipped by Lutheran South 47-46.

Parkway South’s win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ryan Shanfeld, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. That’s the first time this season that Shanfeld scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Wolf, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.

Parkway South’s victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-9. As for North Point, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.

Parkway South took their victory against North Point when the teams last played back in December of 2022 by a conclusive 52-28. Does Parkway South have another victory up their sleeve, or will North Point turn the tables on them? We’ll have the answer soon enough.

The Lafayette Lancers beat the Patriots Wednesday night at Lafayette 59-42 to advance to the championship game vs Parkway West Thursday night. South will play Liberty in the third place game Thursday at 5:00 at Northwest Cedar Hill High School. Lukas O’Neal led PS in scoring with seven points.

The JV got off to a hot start behind Sam Duncan’s six early points and never looked back. The team beat Summit Tuesday night 59-40 and move on to the semifinals Wednesday a 6:45 at Lafayette vs the Lancers. Jacob Sidwell led the way with 14 points.

Fresh off of their CNR January Tournament Championship, the seventh grade blue team has won another tournament! On Saturday, January 20th at Lindbergh High School the team went 3-0 beating Flyers Elite Green 33-13, Parkway Central White 40-19 and Parkway North 32-29. The team will turn around and play two CNR League games Sunday at Parkway South.

The Parkway South Patriots had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They pulled ahead with a 47-46 photo finish over Lutheran South. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Parkway South also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.

Parkway South got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ryan Shanfeld out in front who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that’s the most points Shanfeld has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Wolf, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.

Parkway South’s win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-9. As for Lutheran South, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they’ve lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Parkway South will take on North Point at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lutheran South, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Burroughs at 7:00 p.m. Burroughs and Lutheran South are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
