The Parkway South Patriots had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They pulled ahead with a 47-46 photo finish over Lutheran South. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Parkway South also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.

Parkway South got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ryan Shanfeld out in front who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that’s the most points Shanfeld has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Wolf, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.

Parkway South’s win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-9. As for Lutheran South, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they’ve lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Parkway South will take on North Point at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lutheran South, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Burroughs at 7:00 p.m. Burroughs and Lutheran South are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.

The Parkway South Patriots travelled to Lutheran South Wednesday and came home with three wins! The freshmen opened up a decent lead and won going away 32-15 behind Landon Nickerson’s 14 points. The freshmen improved their record to 7-6.
In the JV game, the teams went back and forth and the Patriots found themselves down seven with just over three minutes to play. A three pointer by Rashad Willis and Lukas O’Neal plus clutch free throw shooting by Tyler Shanfeld sent the game to over time. In OT, P. South was able to pull away and win the game 56-55. Lukas O’Neal led all scorers with 18 points.
The varsity found themselves down 10 points after three quarters but was able to chip away and with .08 on the clock, down one, Eddie Ahearn was able to bank in a block jumper to win the game 47-46! Ryan Shanfeld led the team in scoring with 15 points, Ahearn added 11 and Parker Wolf had 10 points in the win.
The Patriots will have their “Home” opener Friday night vs Hazelwood East.

Basketball Game Preview: Parkway South Patriots vs. Lutheran South Lancers

The Parkway South Patriots will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Lutheran South Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th.

Last Friday, things could have been worse for Parkway South, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 61-47 loss to Mehlville.

Parkway South’s defeat came about despite a quality game from Eddie Ahearn, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. Ahearn has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he’s played.

Meanwhile, Lutheran South’s recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Friday after their sixth straight loss. They suffered a tough 74-54 defeat at the hands of Whitfield. For those keeping track at home, that’s the biggest defeat Lutheran South has suffered since December 1, 2023.

Parkway South bumped their record down to 6-9 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Lutheran South, they’ve lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season.

Parkway South beat Lutheran South 70-63 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Parkway South since the team won’t have the home-court advantage this time around. We’ll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
